The First AFU Training Course for National Universities American Football Coaches Held Successfully

The ceremony of The first AFU Training Class for National Universities’ American Football Coaches launched at Harbin University of Commerce on August 13th , 2013.

Leaders who were present at the opening ceremony were: Mr. Wang Gang, the vice president of Chinese College students’ Sport Association, Mr. Ji Qiang, the commissioner of American Football from Chinese College Students’ Sport Association, Mr. Lang Jiang, the General Secretary of American Football Branch Federation of University Sports of China. Mr. Ben Jay, the Dean of Sports School of Hawaii University, Ms. Gong Yan, the vice Section Chief of the Sports Hygiene and Art Education Section of Education Department of Heilongjiang province, Professor Qv Zhentao, the President of Harbin University of Commerce, Professor Zhang Ruijun, the vice president of Beijing International Studies University, Professor Jiang Longjiang, the vice president of Harbin Sport University, Ms. Li Xiaomei, the Chairwoman of Harbin University Trade Union, Mr. Li Ken, the Executive Director of China AFU Limited, Professor Qv Zhentao, the president of Harbin University of Commerce addressed a welcome speech, Ms. Gong Yan, the vice Section Chief of the Sport Hygiene and Art Education Section of Education Department of Heilongjiang province, made a speech for the opening ceremony of the training class, Mr. Wang Gang, the vice president of Chinese College Students’ Sport Association, made a significant speech at the opening ceremony, Mr. Li Ken, the Executive Director of China AFU Limited donated 30 sets of helmets and protective clothing gratuitously to Harbin University of Commerce at the opening ceremony.

The First AFU Training course for National Universities’ American Football Coaches was supported by American Football branch of Federation University Sports of China, and was organized by HUC. The participants for the Training course are from University of Hawaii, Huaqiao University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shandong University, Hebei University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Normal University, Beihang University, Capital University of Economics and Business, Beijing International Studies University, Jilin University, Harbin Institute Technology, Heilongjiang University, Harbin Sport University and Harbin University of Commerce. The lessons were given by a team made up of six American coaches, Joe, Mark, Chris, DJ. Thomas, Tim, who also assumed the task of training at college.

After the opening ceremony, the leaders and faculties of universities watched the training and contest of AFU/Harbin University of Commerce training camp of 2013 and the Tiger Team from Harbin University of Commerce versus the Bear Team from Harbin Sport University. After fierce contention, the Bear Team won the match. The training of coaches was given full report by the New Evening Newspaper, the Life News and the Sport’s View on Harbin TV Station.

During the training, the faculties of participation universities had a full knowledge about the development situations and plans of American Football in domestic universities. They also studied the theoretical knowledge as well as actual tactics of American Football. This training received a warm welcome and high recognition from the American Football coaches. Also, it had a positive impact on improving the coaches teaching ability effectively. This training contributed to the popularization of American Football in Chinese universities and improvement of comprehensive quality and professional level of this event. Furthermore, the sports event will greatly enriched the physical education activities of teenagers.
